Play 2 All is an industry volunteer run, free directory project to secure the future for our world envied UK live music scene. Aim is to prevent further closure of venues & events by encouraging 3 simple practices that became Live Music industry standard from Wednesday 1st January 2025 throughout mainland Britain.
Main objective is to attract those not currently enticed by live music, the more vulnerable, any who may have lost interest or those not currently catered for by present facilities available.
As well as a horrifying number of venue & event closures in 2023, 2 highly concerning facts also emerged; 4 out of 5 women currently do not leave their urban homes alone after 7pm in the evening & although commendable progress made with wheelchair access, a staggering 92% of disabled people never use a wheelchair & thus remain unaccommodated.
To combat the above 3 simple practices will be encouraged. These include advertising proposed show finish times to enable easier transport & collection as well providing necessary seating, discouraging ‘all standing’ events. There’s also a focus on clean, safe spaces & without necessarily altering programming, providing whole community engagement by local advertising & promotions.
Project was launched at a series of well received multi genre UK events 21st – 30th March 2024. The Play 2 All model was devised by an experienced team of industry volunteers who took inspiration from a number of established, respected UK venues in its design & model formation. (See Directory Page)

“Aim is to encourage new audiences to enjoy Live Music as well as bringing back the more vulnerable & the lapsed”
Mike, team volunteer
“Great scheme and incredibly simple too. Feel this plan has a v.good chance of actually working if everyone gets behind it”
Charles Ebdon, promoter.
“As an independent performer the venue crisis has become a huge issue. A scheme like this that costs nothing to take part in is a real blessing”
Natalie Sidwell, performer
“It is impossible to ignore what this can achieve. Live Music is a disappearing art form and too few people are fighting to defend the current situation, let alone improve it. Join ‘Play 2 All’ and support musicians and venues now and in the future”
